The Grand Gestures is a new side project/super group featuring a motley cast of characters from the Savannah music scene including Aaron Zimmer (guitar), Cory Chambers (mandolin), Jay Rudd (banjo) and Anthony Teixeira (bass) of City Hotel, Anders Thomsen (guitar) of Damon and the Shitkickers, Colleen Heine (fiddle) of The Accomplices, Jared Hall (piano, organ) of Velvet Caravan and Chris Fullerton (drums) of The Savannah Theatre. Bluegrass, Alt. Country, Honky Tonk, and irreverent pop covers are all thrown into the brew.
The sounds of hot jazz and blues have floated along America's rivers since it's towns turned into cities. The tradition continues in Savannah, Georgia with Cory Chambers Jazz Band offering a modern tilt to a classic style. The Chambers Jazz Band relishes in the pre-war, swing standards and offers unforgettable original songs inspired by the sound. The band's trumpet, and clarinet horn section allow them to keep the party dancing with the occasional funk or Winehouse cover. The result is an unmatched sound that spans the 20th century and keeps listeners smiling.
