As a self-taught musician, Sara Burns began playing guitar and singing when she was 12 years old. She began her career as one of the youngest solo entertainers on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Presently, she has made a name for herself as a popular local artist, recognized for her distinguishing vocal style and acoustic sound.
Since then she has shifted her focus toward her own material as a singer/songwriter and recording artist. In April 2013, she released a self-titled EP containing 3 original tracks with producer Kevin Bruchert. The success of the 3 tracks led to an opportunity to work on her first full-length album. The new project ‘Girl on the Run’ finished tracking at Catch This Music (CTM) Recording Studio in Nashville, TN in October 2013. The album was released February 11, 2014 and features 10 original songs, including the 3 tracks previously released on her EP.
Sara’s music reflects her desire to create an authentic sound, paired with a modern flare. Her style is often described as “90s alternative goes country.” Some of her favorite musicians who have influenced her music include Alanis Morissette, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Shania Twain, Miranda Lambert, Jewel, the Gin Blossoms, and the Goo Goo Dolls.
Currently Sara sings popular cover songs for her gigs, mixed with many of her own original material. “My lyrics are really personal in how they relate to my own experiences. I try to incorporate uniqueness to my music, so I don’t sound like everyone else.”
“Its not enough for me to simply say that I have a passion for music, so Ill describe it: I have never found a greater feeling in my life than the feeling I get from sharing my music. Passion is there when you can actually feel the music. Your heart really has to be in it to pursue it.”
